Large downtown full-service law firm seeks an Information Specialist for our Information Resource Center.
You must have proficiency in Microsoft Office, superior proofreading and organizational skills, excellent grammar and attention to detail. In addition, excellent customer service and communication skills are required. You must be detail-oriented, able to prioritize and to manage
multiple tasks and enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of working in a fast-paced cooperative service-oriented environment.
Responsibilities vary but include: update library collection, monitor court filings and news, cite check briefs and memos, process materials, do document retrieval and interlibrary loan and some reference work.
Masters in Library and Information Science is preferred. Legal/law firm experience is a plus.

Library Technician/ U.S. Forest Products Laboratory/ Madison
Job is located at the U.S. Forest Products Laboratory, One Gifford Pinchot Drive, Madison, WI, 53726 on the west end of the University of Wisconsin campus.
Job Description:
Full-time - Hours are 7:30-4:00 Monday-Friday. The position is scheduled to last approximately
2 ½ months and may be extended if needed. Some flexibility around summer classes/vacations is allowable. Job will be hired through a temporary help agency. Salary is $12.73 an hour. Tentative dates of employment June 25, 2008-September 15, 2008.
Duties:
Lead worker in a large library sorting project working with one or two others. Inventories boxed book collection. Empties boxes and organizes materials by call number (books) or title (journals). Requires lifting of heavy boxes. Searches the FPL library catalog and other library catalogs for duplicates. Verifies journal titles to be searched. Boxes materials being kept by FPL and puts them in storage. Makes lists of excess items for distribution and emails lists to selected libraries. Uses spreadsheets and word processing documents to keep track of materials. Packs and ships items selected to the requesting library. Processes books and journals for discard and disposes of them in appropriate manner.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of 2 years above high school (60 semester hours). No specific coursework is required, but coursework/major in library science is preferred.
Or
1 year of general experience. General experience is any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. General library experience a plus.

A combination of education and experience comparable to what is listed above.
